At what age should a child first visit the dentist

I recommend that parents plan their child’s first visit to the dentist when they are 2.5 to 3 years old. At this age, children already have all 20 milk teeth in their mouth which makes it an ideal time to set the course for a future without caries. It takes another 2-3 years until the first examination in kindergarten and unfortunately, the first holes may have already been made by then. My primary concern here is to advise parents on their children’s diet and teeth-cleaning habits. Secondly, the child should have a first positive experience with their dentist and thus be able to begin a fear-free dental future.
